I read about a senior who wanted to travel the US in his Winnebago. Because he didn't want to do the trip alone he advertised for a companion online, and he met a lady to travel with him. They agreed and made all their plans ahead of time, before even meeting. Oh well, to each their own, but I'd never get in a car with someone I never bet before!

Traveling with a stranger does sound risky; but didn't he appoint this lady to do a job, that is, serve as his companion? I mean, wasn't he paying her for her services? Escort/working girl arrangement? I guess, if so, he would be relatively safe, and she'd be the one at risk. Still, I would prefer to travel with a good friend, family member, or relative instead of hiring a complete stranger.

Have any of you watched movie called Before Sunrise with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy? They meet on the train in Europe and travel together afterward. I think this romantic idea has it's merits but not always as Josy and themermaid said :)

Well I guess I can travel with a stranger. If the person seems to be good and nice we would become friends in no time and it all depends on the type of person and the chemistry between us. However people should be a little cautious while traveling with a stranger of course.

There was no financial arragement.

It was just "I would like to travel the states and does anybody want to come with me?"
