What do you think of the idea of meeting someone you've only known online? Probably the best place to do that is in a public place where both of you agree to meet at a specific time.

Definately, public place. See my earlier post about safety. You gotta meet somewhere where you're both comfortable... a bar, a coffee shop, mini-golf at the mall.. best places

I always goto public places when meeting IRL.
You never know who's coming and how the person will behave.. and a public place is a safe place for yourself.

Yes, public places are the best places to meet people we found online. I had a couple of meetings with people I met online and it was really a wonderful experience.

That's cool andrew that you've actually met people whom you initially met online and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. I'm always a little nervous about doing that. Guess I'm just chicken and not willing to take the chance.

All you have to do is goto a public place that you know really well and invite your online friend to that place.

Then (this is a bit sneaky but hey) stay hidden until your online friend arrives. If you see him or her and you feel like you don't want to meet them (they look way different, they seem creepy) then just walk away.

You never have to be there at all- it is your choice to do it- or not.

While it is a bit dangerous, meeting people online can be great fun. Don't take chances though and don't place 100 percent trust on people whom you have never met. Keep your mobile phone within reach. You had better be accompanied by a friend or a sibling or even a guardian if you are a minor. There are plenty of safety tips for people meeting someone in person for the first time. If you Google the subject, you will find plenty on it.
