What are the best places to shop in California and what is that one thing you must buy as a gift on your first date?

There are a lot of good shopping places in California especially in Los Angeles. For my first date I didn't buy any gifts but on the second and third dates I bought flowers and museum tickets. I think it's a bad idea to buy gifts on the first date -- if you don't click you'll just look like a try hard.

I have to agree with you. The presence of a gift really gives a bad impression ... better to be familiar with your partner and buy gifts that you know they'll like. For sure go for a gift on the later dates.

A gift on the first day? I don't think so! I would even hesitate to give a kiss, unless I have gotten so comfortable with the guy. And I don't think anybody gets that comfortable during the first date unless they are looking for casual sex. As for shopping spots, there is no dearth of shopping complexes in California. You can always get what you want.
